Second ‘After Dark Walking Tour’ Added of Old Creepy Mourning Customs

This Saturday, October 27, you might get a little spooked with an after dark walking tour in downtown Texarkana with the “Gracefully Southern: Mourning Customs of the Victorian and Edwardian South.” 

According to the Facebook events page, this tour will cover different aspects of the Victorian and Edwardian customs and obsession with death. You'll learn how and why they photographed their dead, the "safety coffins" that prevented anyone from being buried alive, body snatching from graves and see examples of jewelry made out of the hair of the deceased.

A second tour has been added! The first is tour at 7PM is sold out. The second tour starts at 9PM at the P. J. Ahern House at 403 Laurel Street in Texarkana, Arkansas and will end up at the Ace of Clubs House located at 420 Pine Street in Texarkana Texas. Light refreshments will be served at the Ace of Clubs House. Ten tickets must be sold for the second tour to take place.

Admission is ost is $15 and $10 for Museum Members. Attendees must be 16 or older and tickets must be purchased  through http://www.texarkanamuseum.org/shoponline/. Be sure to bring a flashlight! In case of rain the tour will be rescheduled to Sunday Oct 28.
