Texas A&M-Texarkana is adding a new degree program.

The Texas A&M University-Texarkana College of Business, Engineering and Technology has received approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to offer a Master of Science in Accounting, beginning this fall.

The A&M-Texarkana graduate program in Accounting prepares students for professional careers in many accounting-related areas, targets managerial skills that drive dynamic leadership in the corporate environment, and provides strong background preparation for those who choose to sit for either the Certified Public Accounting (CPA) exam or the Certified Management Accounting (CMA) exam.

Dr. Gary Stading, dean of the College of Business, Engineering and Technology at A&M-Texarkana, said accounting experts from the university’s corporate partners provided guiding suggestions when the faculty built the program to meet industry and governmental global needs.

The program is designed to be completed entirely online and, in the future, through a combination of online and face-to-face courses.

“The A&M-Texarkana Master of Science in Accounting program is designed to help graduates gain a competitive edge in the marketplace,” said Dr. Stading. “Whether they are managing their own business or trying to advance in their careers, the A&M-Texarkana program is a great opportunity for professional development and career enrichment.”
