Last week it was reported that Apple is slowing down older model iPhones with updates made for the newer models. Now the company is offering new batteries at a $50 discount to those with iPhone models 6 and later.

Amid criticism and multiple lawsuits, Apple has come up with a solution and an apology to slowing down older model iPhones - $29 new batteries. The company admitted to slowing down iPhones through performance enhancing updates on models with large batteries such as the iPhones 6, 6Plus, 6S, 6S Plus, and SE as reported by The Verge. In the lawsuits, iPhone users say if they had known they only needed to replace the battery they would not have bought upgraded models.

Starting in late January, if you have an iPhone 6 model or later you can get a new battery at $29 instead on $79. The promotion lasts through December 2018.
