Don’t Flush It! Arkansas Drug Take Back Day Is Saturday, October 25
Arkansans are invited to clean out their medicine cabinets and help protect their communities during Arkansas Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 25. The statewide event provides a safe and anonymous way to dispose of expired or unused prescriptions and medications.
Statewide Arkansas effort helps prevent misuse and pollution
The initiative aims to prevent drug misuse, accidental poisonings, and environmental contamination by ensuring medications are properly destroyed instead of being left in homes or thrown away. During the spring 2025 event, Arkansans turned in nearly 29,000 pounds of medications, bringing the total collected since 2010 to more than 329 tons.

Law enforcement partners host collection sites
Collection events are hosted by local law enforcement agencies in partnership with the Arkansas Opioid Recovery Partnership (ARORP), Arkansas State Drug Director’s Office, Arkansas Sheriff’s Association, Arkansas State Police (ASP), and the Arkansas National Guard’s Counterdrug Joint Task Force.
“Arkansas Drug Take Back has become a powerful movement in uniting communities in the fight against substance misuse,” said Kirk Lane, director of ARORP.

Permanent drop boxes are available year-round!
In addition to the one-day event, there are nearly 300 permanent drop boxes across the state where residents can safely dispose of medications year-round. Locations can be found by entering a ZIP code at ARDdrugTakeBack.org or through the ReviveAR app.
Lane said participating in the program is a “quick, simple way to protect the people around you from the harm that unused medications can bring.”
