This award celebrates individuals and organizations committed to preserving Arkansas’s historic, cultural, and natural heritage through local fundraising and initiatives that boost community economic health.

A Life Long Advocate For Historic Preservation

Simmons has been a lifelong advocate for historic preservation. She had lent her expertise to organizations like Main Street Texarkana, the Nevada County Depot and Museum, and the Texarkana Museums System. Her work as Chairperson and Commissioner of the Historic District Commission has made her an invaluable resource for Texarkana’s preservation efforts and the state of Arkansas is recognizing this.
