Arkansas’ Only Festival Honoring The Beatles in Walnut Ridge
If you are the ultimate Beatles fan then get ready for the annual Beatles at the Ridge Festival on Saturday, September 16, in historic Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.
This whole festival was developed because The Beatles landed at the Walnut Ridge Airport on September 18, 1964, and it's believed that this was the only time that the Fab 4 set foot in the state of Arkansas.
The stop was to be kept secret but word got out pretty quickly and the townsfolks showed up at the airport after their two-day nearby secluded vacation spot. USA Today picks Walnut Ridge as one of the Top 10 places in Beatles history.
Beatles at the Ridge Festival is FREE and features magic shows, face painting, food vendors, bounce houses, arts and crafts booths selling unique items, and some really cool Beatles merchandise.
In addition, don't miss the 8th Annual Abbey Road Car Show featuring antique, classic, and late-model cars.
And what would a Beatles festival be without some music right?
Musical Lineup
- Derrick Brandon - 1 PM
- Tanner Shumard and Jackson Forrester and Band - 3 PM
- Greasy Tree - 5 PM
The highlight of the evening will be the 2012 Grammy-nominated headlining act Liverpool Legends, an incredible Beatles tribute band.
The Beatles sculpture at Beatles Park is christened as the British Invasion of the Rock n’ Roll Highway. The sculpture pays tribute to a visit from the legendary rock band to Walnut Ridge on Sept. 18, 1964.
Make sure you go on the infamous Guitar Walk where not only The Beatles but Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Conway Twitty, Johnny Cash, and Carl Perkins are all recognized and honored at Cavenaugh Park.
