🚨Black Friday Shooting on I-40
👮♂️2 Men Arrested
Arkansas State Police Special Agents have arrested two men in connection with a Black Friday shooting on Interstate 40 near mile marker 154.
The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. on November 29, 2024. What began as a verbal argument at a North Little Rock sporting goods store escalated when the suspects followed the victims onto I-40. Shots were fired at the victims' vehicle, hitting the driver in the leg. The injured driver was taken to UAMS with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while a passenger was not hurt.
2 Men Surrendered to Police and Now Facing Charges
On December 11, 2024, Valtorean Batemen, 19, of Sherwood, turned himself in to Pulaski County authorities. A week later, on December 19, Treon Bone, 20, also of Sherwood, surrendered to police.
Both Batemen and Bone face serious charges, including Committing a Terrorist Act, Unlawful Discharge of a Weapon, and Attempted Capital Murder. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the events that led to the shooting.
This incident is a sobering example of how altercations can escalate quickly, particularly during high-stress shopping events like Black Friday. Please let this be a reminder to all to report aggressive behavior to law enforcement before situations turn violent.
