The Arkansas Titans were the winners of the Senior Division of the Phil Sandoval Memorial Baseball Tournament played in Texarkana over the weekend.

The Titans. made up of players from Hot Springs to Texarkana, won 4 out of the 5 games they played over the weekend to take the Championship.

The Titans came from behind to beat the Ada Oklahoma Braves by a score of 4-3 at George Dobson Field at Spring Lake Park Sunday evening. Trevor Wells of Genoa-Central pitched a complete game to help the team win the championship.

The Titans winning scores over the weekend included: 9-4, 4-2, 11-7, and the 4-3 finale. Their only loss was a 5-4 decision on Saturday.

The Titans are a tournament Dixie team, that  includes players from high schools mostly in  Arkansas.

This includes two Texarkana area local kids. Trevor Wells from Genoa-Central, and David Singleton from Pleasant Grove. Wells, as mentioned above, pitched a complete game victory in the Championship Game. Singleton, was the starting and winning pitcher in the Friday opener and was the closer in a game Saturday that cemented the Titan's trip to get to play on Sunday.

2 players from Fountain Lake

1 player from Catholic High

1 player from Taylor

1 player from Hot Springs

1 player from Genoa-Central

1 player from Pleasant Grove

The Titans are coached by Zach Muldoon, a graduate from Lake Hamilton High School near Hot Springs. Muldoon is currently a catcher for the Southern Arkansas University Muleriders in Magnolia.

In Sundays Junior Division Championship, the Texarkana Junior Bulldogs defeated the Ada Oklahoma A's for that title.

The Phil Sandoval Memorial Baseball tournament is an annual event held in Texarkana each June. The tournament is named after the late Phil Sandoval. Sandoval was a former Sports Writer for the Texarkana Gazette.
