Arkansas Mails Over $700,000 in Unclaimed Checks
The Arkansas State Auditor’s office has launched a new initiative to return unclaimed money to residents, beginning with over $700,000 in checks mailed this week. The "Data Match" program, authorized by Act 114 of 2025, allows the office to send money directly to eligible Arkansans without them having to file a claim.
Auditor of State Dennis Milligan expressed his excitement about the new program.
"We are so excited to get this program up and running," Milligan said. "Thanks to the Arkansas Legislature, we’re able to begin mailing checks to people each week so long as we can prove they are owed this money."
What is this Arkansas Data Match Program?
The new initiative will automatically send checks to individuals who are owed between $50 and $5,000. To ensure the money goes to the correct person, the Auditor's office verifies identities using multiple data sources. The office has already identified over 360,000 properties for verification, and those eligible began receiving notification letters in early July.
Getting Money Back to Arkansans
Unclaimed property includes various financial items such as uncashed checks, unreimbursed utility deposits, and insurance proceeds. Milligan stated that the goal of the new program is to get money back to its rightful owners more efficiently by reducing the usual red tape.

Who is Eligible?
Currently, the Data Match program is only for individuals. Businesses, nonprofits, and those owed less than $50 or more than $5,000 must still file a claim online at www.claimitar.gov. This new effort brings Arkansas in line with 24 other states that have adopted similar programs.
