It is always good to recognize when kids in our surrounding community do something special. The Ashdown Junior High School EAST (Environmental and Spatial Technology) class received a grant for $1000 in order to create an exhibit at the Two Rivers Museum located in downtown Ashdown. Arkansas

The Museum also received a matching $1000 grant in addition to what the class received. The grant has given the class the opportunity to partner with the Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street  and create an exhibit for the local museum.  The exhibit will focus on the decline of gardens in Little River County.

The students plan to interview older members of the community to help showcase the change over time.  They hope that the exhibit will be appealing to all ages and encourage more people to visit the museum.

In addition, On Saturday, March 9, the Ashdown High School Band traveled to Lake Hamilton High School to perform for a panel of judges as part of the Region 2 Concert Assessment.  The band received a Division I composite rating on stage for their prepared music selections and a Division I rating for sight reading.  The band is under the direction of Mark Pounds, Tim Avery, and  Nick Palmissano.

Congratulations to all these students!
