Texarkana, TX Affordable Housing “HOME Program” Taking New Applications
The City of Texarkana, Texas, has been awarded a HOME Investment Partnerships Program grant from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs to help build new homes for low-income residents. This program aims to replace substandard housing with safe, affordable homes.
To assist interested homeowners, the city will hold an informational event on October 22-23, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bowie County Health Center. The event will include a 30-minute overview of the program, followed by on-site help with applications.
Applications are due by November 8, 2024, with supplemental materials required by November 22, 2024. Homeowners who qualify for the program can receive assistance either as a five-year conditional grant or a 15-year deferred forgivable loan. To be eligible, applicants must live in substandard homes, own the property, and have an income below 80% of Bowie County’s median income.
“This initiative revitalizes homes, strengthens neighborhoods, and boosts the community’s economic stability,” said Matt Solomon, Texarkana’s Planning and Project Management Coordinator.
For more information or assistance, residents can contact Ashley Boyles at (903) 556-5305 or Ryan Boyles at (903) 276-4995. Applications are available at Texas City Hall or online.
