The Boys and Girls Club of Texarkana is proud to announce its exciting summer programs and camps for children and teenagers.
According to a press release, founded in 1860, the Boys and Girls Club has a rich history of providing a safe and nurturing environment for children and teenagers. The Texarkana branch, established by The Salvation Army, was the first Boys and Girls Club in the state of Arkansas.
Summer Programs
The club offers a wide range of activities and programs to help young people excel in school and develop a love for learning. From tutoring and homework assistance to educational enrichment programs, the club is committed to academic success. Mentorship, leadership development programs, and character-building activities teach important values such as respect, responsibility, and integrity. Additionally, engaging in sports, fitness, and nutrition programs promotes healthy lifestyles and instills valuable life skills like teamwork, discipline, and resilience.
Summer Camps
During the summer months, the Boys and Girls Club of Texarkana sees an influx of participants seeking fun and safe activities. Summer camps are offered for boys and girls aged 7 to 14, providing a variety of classes including arts and crafts, life skills, outdoor playing, character development, Vacation Bible School, field trips, and more. For teenagers aged 13 to 17, Camp Hoblitzelle is a week-long overnight camp held in Midlothian, Texas. The camp offers a range of exciting activities such as swimming, horseback riding, ropes courses, ziplining, spiritual development, crafts, and more.
There are still openings available for both the summer programs and camps. Interested individuals can contact Boys and Girls Club Director, Chasity Russell, at 903-319-4752. Scholarships and other funding assistance are available to ensure that every child has the opportunity to participate.
