The Thanksgiving holiday is all about family and friends getting together. Why not take the family on a road trip from Texarkana to one of the most magical places in East Texas?

Carmela's Magical Santa Land Drive-Thru Park

Carmela's Magical Santa Land Drive-Thru Park in Longview, Texas, has become one of my personal favorites to visit. It's FREE, but donations are accepted to keep this festive park up and running.

Carmela's now boasts over 10 million stunning lights in a 1-mile drive-thru park. There is not a square inch of ground or treetop that is not covered in lights. There are so many glowing lights that from afar it looks like the woods are on fire.

From Carmela's massive, lit-up grand entrance archway to the mesmerizing tunnel of twinkling lights, this place is a wonderland of lights and displays that is mind-blowing and overloads your senses.

As you drive through all the specially themed areas, listen to your car radio for Christmas music synchronized with all the lights. There is also a short walking trail with photo ops and a gift shop. If you plan on visiting Carmela's, the best time to go is early in the week.  Weekends are packed with longer lines.
