The City of Texarkana, Texas Parks and Recreation Department is gearing up for summer events for the community to enjoy.

Rotary Splash Pad

To kick off the summer season, the Rotary Splash Pad is now open until the beginning of September from 9 AM to 7 PM. The Texarkana Texas Fire Department will also join in hosting ‘Splash Pad Popsicles’ on Thursday, June 20-27 where children can meet local firefighters, explore and take photos on a fire truck, and enjoy a refreshing treat.

Movies in the Park

Movies In The Park is also back this summer with the next movie Luca’ on June 13, and ‘Barbie’ has been rescheduled for June 20. Each movie will start at dusk in Spring Lake Park across from the airplane. The community is encouraged to bring blankets and chairs concessions will be available for food purchase.

Summer Camp

Summer Camp is a dynamic 3-week daytime program for students aged 6-12, held Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM with enrollment capped at 25 students, participants will explore the various roles of city departments, and engage in activities like electrical safety, tree planting and education, experiential learning, and historical exploration at Spring Lake Park. The camp includes tours of Texarkana landmarks such as the Regional Arts Center, Perot Theatre, and City Hall. Additionally, children will enjoy fun outings to the splash pad, water park, bowling alley, as well as fishing and disc golf activities. Texarkana Farmers Market

The Texarkana Farmers Market is in full swing and residents and visitors can enjoy locally grown and sourced products from the region every Saturday from 8 AM until noon through August 3, in downtown Texarkana at 500 N Stateline Ave. The community can meet over 20 vendors each Saturday and shop for local fruits and vegetables, meats, baked goods, salsas, honey, plants and florals, and artisanal products. In addition to regular vendors, the market hosts ‘Kids Entrepreneur Day’ where kids of all ages can showcase their talents and get real-life experience selling their products. On June 22, and July 20, whether they bake, grow, or create, there is room for every kid to participate. Salsa Competition

The market will conclude its season on August 3, with its Annual Salsa Competition, where contestants will vie for the title of Best Salsa in the Ark-La-Tex. Market customers can sample each salsa and cast their votes for their favorites alongside local judges. With eight categories, ranging from Kids to Restaurants and People’s Choice, there is a place for everyone to participate. The Texarkana Rhinos held their Home Opener this past weekend and invited the community to enjoy a fun-filled family outing at the ball fields this season. Tickets range from $8 to $12, and children under 2 get in free if they sit on a parent's lap.
