Great news for our area as Texas A&M University-Texarkana just announced their new bachelor's degree in computer engineering and it will begin for students this fall.

Approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. The program is a bridge between electrical engineering and computer science. Students will get experience with embedded systems, digital logic, computer architecture and hardware software integration.

They will also delve into topics like robotics, machine learning, computer vision, and the Internet of Things (loT).

A&M-Texarkana President Dr. Ross Alexander said in a press release,

We are thrilled to be adding a bachelor's degree in computer engineering to our expanding catalog of academic programs.

Before getting into the advanced classes like signals and systems, electronics and data communications, they will receive a strong foundation in calculus and physics along with programming and core engineering.

Ross also stated that the university is in touch with what business leaders in our area are looking for in their employees and the workforce in general and that knowledge encourages the university leaders to design high-quality programs.
