The East Texas Food Bank's Senior Box Program is expanding to add a second location in Cass County. Anyone who qualifies will need to sign up at the new location this Friday, April 8.
The sign-up will be held at Trinity Church located at 101 B Loop 59 in Atlanta from 9 AM to 12 PM.
The program is already offered at the Linden Church of Christ located at 312 Highway 8 on the first Tuesday of even-numbered months from 8AM to 10 AM.
Our senior citizens have a greater chance of an inadequate diet that lead to health problems With the East Texas Food Bank's Senior Box Program participants receive a food box monthly to low-income seniors living in rural areas.
There are only three requirements for the program: They must be 60 years of age or older with legal documentation of their identity. Also a declaration of their gross income is required and Texas residency.
Based on the Federal Poverty Guidelines for the Elderly the income must be :

According to a press release, each box contains:
shelf-stable items like protein, milk, cereal, vegetables, fruits, pasta and juices.
