It's hot! As the temperature rises outside you try as best you can to make the temperature in your house go down. 

A new study from Energy Star the federal program said the best guidelines for the most efficient cooling would be to set your airconditioning thermostat to the following:

  • 78° F when you’re home
  • 85° F when you’re at work or away
  • 82° F when you’re sleeping

Now that is a little to warm for even me! My husband who is a trained architect has always said that you can really only expect an airconditioning unit to cool up to 20 degrees from what the outside temperature is, at least efficiently to where the unit isn't running non stop!

We keep ours on 68 during the night, 72 when we are gone and during. The winter it never gets above 74.
