Experience Texarkana History With A Walk Through Rose Hill Cemetery
Take a walk through one of Texarkana's oldest cemeteries as the Texarkana Museums System has another twilight tour. This month it's a tour of Rose Hill Cemetery Saturday, evening, November 6 beginning at 6:30 PM.
This is a unique way of learning about Texarkana history as living history performers will portray important people from Texarkana's past and tell their stories of settling in Texarkana and building their lives here.
TMS Curator, Jamie Simmons said in a press release,
“Rose Hill Cemetery is one of the two oldest cemeteries in the city and is the final resting place of some of the region's earliest pioneer settlers. Their personal stories tell the story of Texarkana’s founding and it’s sometimes tumultuous early years.”
Weather permitting the tour will begin at 6:30 PM. The Rose Hill Cemetery is located on Leila Street at the intersection of Phenie Avenue in Texarkana, Texas.
Please be advised that there will be no parking in the cemetery. You will need to call for directions. This is a wheelchair-accessible event. Tickets are $15 each or $10 for TMS Members. Tickets must be purchased in advance. You can get yours online at TexarkanaMuseums.org/Events.
According to the press release,
This tour is the latest in the Twilight Tours series offered by Texarkana Museums System to promote an understanding of Texarkana history through the unique stories of individuals. These new walking tours were developed specifically for evening hours. Talking Dead tours feature one of Texarkana’s historic cemeteries on the first Saturday of each month, through December.
