Are Ghosts Haunting Eureka Springs, AR? Try The Crescent Hotel
What a magnificent and beautiful old hotel, the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas has been overlooking the town since 1886. Since we heard it might have a spirit or two hanging around, we headed that-a-way for more adventures and another edition of, "Worth The Drive."
My wife and I love to go explore old hotels, especially if they are reported to be haunted. The Cresent in Eureka Springs is purported to be one of the most haunted in the United States. So, we had to go.
Ghostly Reports at the Crescent
- Morris the hotel cat. He was a resident for 21 years, they called him the General Manager. Morris sightings are reported on a regular basis. Don't confuse Morris with the latest hotel cat. This totally chill black and white kitty is very much alive.
- Room 218 ghost (see picture). Room 218 is supposedly haunted by a stone mason who helped build the hotel. He fell to his death during construction, his name is Michael.
- Breckie, a 4-year-old child who died in the hotel of appendicitis. He is seen regularly bouncing a ball.
- Dr. John Freemont was the hotel doctor back in the 1800's. The Doc is usually seen or smelled near his office which is now room 212. The smell? He reportedly smoked cherry pipe tobacco.
- Theadora died of cancer in the hotel, room 419, where she is often seen fumbling with her keys outside the room.
Haunted Crescent Hotel and Spa - Eureka Springs, AR
I know what you're thinking, did we find any proof of the afterlife during our brief stay at the Crescent? Sadly, no, not really, or I would have published it here. But we had an amazing time and would go back again at the drop of a giant metal chicken, more on that later.
Clearly, this is an amazing old hotel that is worth the exploration whether you're there to hunt ghosts or you just enjoy exploring old hotels. Eureka Springs is a beautiful city loaded with places to explore as well. The Cosmic Caverns are nearby in Berryville, AR. The Great Passion Play is there in Eureka Springs, plus tons of shops and restaurants downtown. It's another fun destination for sure, "Worth The Drive."
