Governor Publishes Semi-Annual ‘Report to The People of Texas’
Texas Governor Greg Abbott has published his 2024 Report to the People of Texas, reflecting on the accomplishments of 2023, and outlining his vision for the year ahead.
This semi-annual report is issued every other year when the Texas Legislature is not in session and no formal "State of the State" address is delivered. This is the Governor’s fifth report since assuming office in 2015.
“We live in a state of infinite possibilities,” said Governor Abbott. “Freedom and opportunity are deeply rooted in the history of our great state. As a result, the Texas of today is where innovation flourishes, where hard work is rewarded, and where Texans prosper.”
The Report to the People provides updates on the Governor’s initiatives and financial priorities for a brighter, safer, more prosperous, and freer Texas. It also summarizes significant legislation signed into law by the Governor following the 88th Legislative Sessions, including the most extensive property tax reduction ever in Texas history.
2023 was a year of setting new records in total job creation, employment rates, and the scale of the Texas workforce. It offers more insights into the state's top economic position in the nation and outlines the initiatives within the Governor's Office that focus on ensuring public safety and enhancing opportunities for all Texans.
The report also includes;
- Texas First Lady Cecelia Abbott's Report and updates from various commissions led by Texans, serving Texans.
- Governor Abbott's fight to fortify the border and combat the influx of dangerous substances like fentanyl into the country.
- The dedication of law enforcement personnel to protecting children and maintaining community safety.
In his closing statement, Governor Abbott notes, "By the grace of God, and with unwavering optimism and a steadfast focus, we will continue to turn bold ideas into reality. Together, we will build a bigger, better Texas for generations to come.”
