I've always referred to myself as a "Cereal Killer", cause I love me some cereal. This has been a life-long thing for me. It started off with some kind of mushy, icky, oatmeal or something when I was a baby I'm sure, then slowly built from there. What's funny is the life progression we all go through with cereals, we start with mush and for all the world looks like that's where it will end up as well.

Once you graduate from the mushy stuff and Cheerios, that's when cereal got really good with "added sugar". Super Sugar Crisp, Frosted Flakes, Captain Crunch, Count Chocula, Lucky Charms, all were the way to start your day or end it for that matter. I love cereal anytime, and there's nothing like a good sugar rush right before bed. Oh, don't forget the occasional bowl of Raisin Bran you got at Grandma's house, it was good, but it needed more sugar.

In my twenties and thirties, I started branching out some, less pure sugar, more stuff that's kinda good for you. Still sugary of course; like Frosted Mini-Wheats, Raisin Bran (2 Scoops), Life, Honey Nut Cheerios, and more Lucky Charms.

In my forties, I discovered store brands like Great Value! In most cases, just as good as the originals, but cheaper. SCORE! Raisin Bran with Extra Raisins! Are you kidding me? Guys my age need the extra help if you know what I mean. I love the imitation Special K with Strawberries too, and I must have an occasional bowl of not-Lucky Charms, or whatever the store calls them.

Here's an idea for the new slogan for Cereal Day;

"Cereal, it's not steak, but it's awesome"!

What's your favorite?
