Jake Owen's tour bus has been returned following the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting, and when the singer walked back on the bus, he found a reminder of the day on board.

On Instagram, Owen shared a photo taken on his tour bus after it was returned to him following the Route 91 Harvest Festival tragedy. On a chalk board, which is on the bus door, the artist explains, is the schedule for Oct. 1, the day of the shooting.

"Every day, my tour manager / best friend writes down our day['s schedule] on our bus door chalkboard," Owen explains in the picture's caption. "I'll never forget this day."

Owen was backstage when the shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival -- which killed more than 50 people and injured more than 500 people -- began; he had performed at the festival earlier that evening. Owen was tweeting during and after the incident.

Remembering the Route 91 Harvest Festival Shooting Victims

"When the shots started being fired and you could hear it ricocheting off the top of the roof of the stage, we started just running in any direction we could, because you didn’t know where it was coming from,” Owen recalls. “You didn’t know if someone was on the ground; you didn’t know where it was coming from.”

Although Owen remembers seeing “the fear in everyone’s eyes” during the tragedy, he also says that the fear triggered by such an event can’t be a driving force in its aftermath.

“I think it’s our duty as entertainers out here in the world to stand up [to] this sort of thing,” Owen says. “They can’t keep us down. We’re not going to live in fear, not going to continue to do this, because I think part of being entertainers is bringing happiness to people.”
