Jerry Jones Paternity Counter-Suit Begins Monday in Texarkana
Jury selection is underway today, Friday, July 19, at the federal courthouse in Texarkana for a lawsuit involving Dallas Cowboys owner and University of Arkansas Alum Jerry Jones.
Jerry Jones is in Texarkana countersuing Alexandra and Cynthia Davis for allegedly breaching a decades-old contract which included promises from Alexandra and Cynthia to:
- Refrain from making paternity claims or filing lawsuits.
- Cynthia would prevent Alexandra from taking legal action to establish paternity.
- Both would keep the agreement and paternity allegations confidential.
In exchange, Alexandra and Cynthia reportedly received over a million dollars (exact amount unknown) from Jones. However, Alexandra, allegedly supported by Cynthia, filed two public lawsuits against Jones, claiming he is her father.
Jones contends that Alexandra violated the signed agreement by discussing it with the media and seeking paternity claims. He is seeking compensation for the legal costs incurred in defending against Alexandra's lawsuits.
The defense is arguing that Alexandra was a minor when the contract was signed, making it invalid. She also argues that the contract goes against public policy and should be considered void.
Cynthia argues the contract lacked specific instructions on maintaining confidentiality and claims she couldn't control Alexandra's actions once she became an adult. Additionally, Cynthia says Jones breached the agreement first, which nullifies her obligations.
Upcoming Trial
The trial is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 22. All involved parties are expected to testify.
