I grew up listening to Johnny Cash like so many Americans did. There's was just something really Americana about his music and style. If you ask any muscian out there of any genre they will most likely tell you they were influenced by the Man in Black.  Johnny Cash was born in the small town of Dyess,  Arkansas and on Oct. 19-21, 2017, you need to make plans to attend the Johnny Cash Heritage Festival.

This festival benefits the restoration of his boyhood home in Dyess which was restored in 2014 along with the Dyess Colony Administration Building that houses a museum exhibit displaying Johnny Cash memorabilia.  Many years ago, The Dyess Colony located in the area was a federally run program that allowed housing for farmers to start their lives over with their families in the agriculture rich land of the Delta region of Arkansas.

The Johnny Cash Festival will have several scheduled events including key note speakers, and live music from Cash's daughter Rosanne Cash, Kris Kristofferson, another Arkansas native Buddy Jewell and siblings Joanne Cash and Tommy Cash. Each performer has some type of connection to Dyess and the Johnny Cash project. The concerts will be held outdoors on Saturday Oct. 21, adjacent to Johnny Cash's boyhood home.

Other musical acts will perform beginning on Thursday at the Commissary Sage in the Colony Circle.
