Country star Kane Brown has been teasing a collaboration with EDM artist Marshmello for months now, and the pair finally dropped the song on Friday morning (June 21). Readers can press play above to hear the track, "One Thing Right," Marshmello's first country collaboration.

Written by Brown, Marshmello, Jesse Frasure, Josh Hoge and Matthew McGinn for Brown's wife, Katelyn Jae, the singer describes "One Thing Right" as "basically the opposite of" Marshmello's hit collaboration with Bastille, "Happier." "It just … tells you everything that I’ve done wrong growing up and it’s saying that the one thing I did get right was you, talking about my wife," he explains.

Indeed, "One Thing Right" paints Brown as a bit of a hell-raiser -- "I've been at the wrong place at the wrong time / Chasin' all the wrong things most of my life ... Been the kinda guy girls' mommas don't like" -- with Jae as the woman who saved him.

"You saw right through my pain / Kept us patient while I change / Never even crossed your mind to walk away ... I've been wrong about a million times / But I got one thing right," Brown sings of Jae. Sonically, "One Thing Right" begins with an a cappella snap track, adding bass and additional beats as the song progresses.

Brown originally wrote "One Thing Right" for his sophomore album, 2018's Experiment, a press release reports, but when the song didn't make the cut for that project, he sent it to Marshmello, after the two first connected at the 2018 American Music Awards. "He ended up being really passionate about it, and said he wanted to even make it a single, so we ended up working on it together," Brown recalls.

"I am a huge Marshmello fan and think he is an incredible artist in his space, so I am thrilled to be able to get to collaborate with him on this," Brown adds. "It's amazing seeing a song you wrote come to life like that."

Brown and Jae, who have been married since October of 2018, are expecting their first child, a girl, later this year. Brown's Marshmello collaboration follows recent out-of-genre team-ups with Khalid and Becky G.
