Local High School String Orchestra Hosts Fundraiser
The Arkansas High and North Heights Junior High String Orchestra is holding a fundraiser this Saturday at Applebee's to raise funds to attend a competition during a music festival in Hot Springs, Ark.
On Saturday, April 11, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. it is all you can eat of pancakes at Applebee's for just $5. The ticket price also includes a bottomless breakfast beverage. The school string orchestra is trying to raise enough funds to attend the competition to be held during the Music Festival in Hot Springs in May. You can purchase tickets at the door on the day of the event or you can get them in advance at Arkansas High School administration offices.
This will be the orchestra's first group competition this year. Ten of the string orchestra students attended a regional competition this past Fall and competed against all other schools in Southern Arkansas. These competitions are very important and encompass a large amount of schools.
The students in the Arkansas High and North Heights Junior High String Orchestra have performed locally for different civic groups, nursing homes, retirement centers and other clubs but the music festival will be the largest event for these kids.
Andrea Finley, Orchestra Director, explained, "The string orchestra is comprised of violin, viola, cello and double bass." She went on to say, "We hope that all of Texarkana will support our kids by coming out to eat breakfast with us on Saturday at Applebee's."
