Main Street Annual Christmas Parade in Texarkana – CANCELLED
Even with Christmas on the way COVID-19 strikes again with another Texarkana tradition cancelled. The Texarkana Board of Directors have made the tough decision to cancel the Annual MainStreet Christmas Parade in downtown Texarkana.
The parade was going to take place next Monday, December 7. It was going to be a drive-thru style parade but city officials felt "The risks for our volunteers and local business owners making floats was just too great a worry for us" Said Ina McDowell, MST Executive Director in a press release.
But, there is still plenty to see, whether you drive or take a walk downtown as many downtown businesses are decorating their shop windows and the restaurants are accommodating people with carryout and curbside pickup.
Main Street posted on their Facebook page:
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the Christmas Parade will not be held this year. It was not an easy decision, but in the interest of public health our board has made this tough decision. We appreciate the community for supporting us and look forward to hosting the parade in years to come.
