A man who pointed a gun at police is behind bars today. On December 28, 2014 at approximately 2:54 a.m., Texarkana, Texas, police officers observed a maroon SUV in the parking lot of a business in the 4200 block of N. Stateline Avenue.

Officers made contact with the driver of the SUV. He was identified as Randall Scott, 24, of Bloomburg, Texas.  When officers were approaching the car a second time to speak with Scott, he exited the car and pointed a black handgun at one of the officers. One of the officers fired a single shot as Scott fled on foot.

Scott dropped his coat and the handgun during the foot pursuit.  Scott was apprehended in the 4400 block of N. Stateline Avenue without further incident and his handgun was recovered.

Officers also located suspected crack cocaine, marijuana and hydrocodone pills in the suspect’s possession. He was arrested for Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant, Evading Arrest on foot, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Possession of Marijuana (under 2 ounces), Possession of a Controlled Substance penalty group 1(over 1 gram but under 4 grams), Possession of a Controlled Substance penalty group 3 (under 28 grams).
