National Popcorn Day January 19 – What’s Your Favorite Flavor?

Hey did you know National Popcorn Day is this Friday, Jan. 19?

Have you ever stop to think what the world would be like without this tasty little treat. I mean what would going to the movies be like, without a bag of popcorn. Well, whether you like it or not, it's here to stay. In a recent survey recently done by NationalToday researchers found that 92 percent of Americans love popcorn, while only two percent of Americans prefer plain popcorn.

What are the Top 5 flavors?

• Butter (31 percent)
• White Cheddar (16 percent)
• Caramel Corn (16 percent)
• Kettle Corn (15 percent)
• Cheddar Cheese (11 percent)

However the flavor debate continues with 40 percent of Americans preferring sweet corn, while 37 percent prefer savory.

Of course, my two personal favorites are Buttered and Kettle corn. On occasion, I like the Jalapeno flavored if available. The survey also showed that Orville Redenbacher was the most liked brand followed by Pop Secret and then Act II.

I decided to take my own survey and asked the rest of the Kicker On-Air staff, what their favorite popcorn flavor was.

Jim Weaver - "Buttered, specifically Movie Theater butter, Yum Yum"

Lisa Lindsey - "Buttered, can't go without the butter"

John Williams - "Buttered, no question about it"

Jess - "No contest, Kettle Corn, Hands down"

Wes - "Kettle Corn, not a big popcorn fan, but I do like Kettle"
