No Thank You! Top 5 Thanksgiving Side-Dishes in Arkansas/Texas That Have To Go
I love Thanksgiving, I love getting together with family and friends and stuffing our faces, loosening our belts afterward, and nodding off while the Cowboys beat the heck out somebody, anybody. But as I sit here and think about the preparations for the upcoming Turkey Day I do come to the same conclusion, there are at least 5 Thanksgiving side dishes that have got to go.
5 - Candied Yams:
I have never been a big fan of yams in the first place, the only reason I would put them on my plate at all was that I liked the melted marshmallows. No mas candied yams por favore.
4 - Salad:
Let's be real here, salad is rabbit food. Unless you are a vegan or a rabbit, green leafy stuff does not belong on your plate on Thanksgiving Day. Yes, I need to eat more salad, I get it, but it simply gets in the way of the delicious real food you only get to enjoy once or twice a year. Chunk the leafy stuff for one stinking day.
3 - Stuffing:
Let's be clear, we are not talking about dressing, this is stuffing. The whole idea of shoving a breaded mixture of blik up a bird's backside to suck up all the juices of said bird, has never been a favorite of mine to begin with. My wife, however, makes the best dressing you've ever stuffed in your face. Love it.
2 - Creamed Corn
Yes, it's a texture thing for me, always has been. Corn, or any other vegetable for that matter, should never be "creamed". Gives me the shivers. Boot-it!
1 - Green Bean Casserole
I like it, always have, but its time has come. This is one of those dishes that I'm pretty sure had to come from the south because we can make a casserole out of anything. Veggies, chicken, fish, beans of any kind... casserole. It's tired, it's been done, time to find something, anything else.
That's my five, agree or disagree? Doesn't matter, you know you don't have to put anything on your plate if you don't want to.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, hug ya fam for me!
