Pro Fishing Tournament Moves to Millwood Due to Low Water at Wright Patman
If you are planning to attend the fishing tournament on Lake Wright Patman in Texas next week, officials have been forced to relocate the National Professional Fishing League (NPFL) tournament to Lake Millwood in Arkansas due to low water levels at Wright Patman.
The event will now take place April 23 - 25, with tournament activities and official weigh-ins scheduled at Yarborough Landing in Ashdown.
League officials said the move was necessary to ensure angler safety and maintain the quality of competition.
Texarkana Still Hosting Anglers and Events
Despite the location change, Texarkana will continue to play a key role in tournament week activities.
NPFL anglers and staff will remain engaged with the local community through outreach efforts, highlighting attractions across Texarkana, USA, and supporting local businesses during their stay.
Free Meet-and-Greet Planned at Spring Lake Park
You still have a chance to meet the pros during a free event at Spring Lake Park on Wednesday, April 22, from 4 to 6 PM.
More than 75 professional anglers are expected to attend, including Greg Hackney, Gerald Swindle, Patrick Walters, and John Cox.
The event will include autograph signings, photo opportunities, and family-friendly yard games.
City Leaders Support Decision
Texarkana Mayor Bob Bruggeman said while the change is disappointing, safety comes first.
He added the city still looks forward to welcoming anglers and their families and encourages visitors to explore local dining, entertainment, and hospitality during their stay.
