April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and on March 28 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Runnin' WJ Ranch will partner with A World for Children and the Bowie County Child Welfare Board for a fundraising event at Applebee's Texarkana. Come out for all-you-can-eat pancakes for only $5 to help raise funds to end child abuse and neglect. In addition, A World for Children will begin hosting a monthly informational meeting in our community for families interested in foster care, volunteering and giving opportunities for the organization along with CASA and Runnin' WJ Ranch. The event will be held the first Monday of every month through October at 6 p.m. at 600 Broad Street in Maud, Texas.

The main goal of A World for Children and these organizations partnering together is to show their love for children and raise awareness of the severity of child abuse right in our own backyard.

  • A World for Children is an organization serving 850 abused children in 350 foster homes across the state of Texas. Although there is not a Texarkana office for the organization, there is a local representative and case manager who hopes to see one someday soon.
  • April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and these organizations hope the fundraiser will raise awareness of the severity of this issue. A report of child abuse is made every 10 seconds and more than five children die every day from the result of child abuse.
