Sir John Recites “Down To The Honky Tonk” – It’s ‘Cultured Country’ With Jim & Lisa
It's time for another edition of Cultured Country. This week Sir John took on a little ditty from the likes of Mr Jake Owen titled "Go Down To The Honky Tonk." When Jake does the song live or even in the video below, there's a little word that Sir John had to exchange for another word for it to be able to play on the radio. The word starts with an "S" and ends with a "T" and it's very friendly in the middle, just says hi. Sir John, for some reason, chose to replace the word with "chicken"... yeah, we're not sure either.
So, if you missed it Thursday, or just want to hear it again, here we go.
"Cultured Country," listen for it Thursday mornings at 7:45 with Jim & Lisa, "The Wakeup Crew," on Kicker 102.5.
Here's the way Blake did it back in the day...
How It Works:
The premise is simple, country music lovers like us are generally thought of as un-cultured, so to fight this ridiculous notion and bring what we consider a little more refinement to our show, we thought having someone from jolly old England read some country music lyrics, out loud, on the radio might raise the culture bar a notch or two. Since we don't have any access to the Royals and the only Brit we know in the immediate area just happens to be Lisa's husband John, that's the way we went.
