Several Texas High Band students were among 2,300 students in the state to be honored as a Texas Music Scholar.

Student honorees were selected for exhibiting outstanding qualities in scholastic merit, musicianship and citizenship in their school and community during the 2016-17 school year.

Selected students were:  Matt Allen (9th Grade, Percussion); Anna Cannon (12th Grade, Bb Clarinet); Krysten Collins (12th Grade, French Horn); Craig Crawford (10th Grade, Alto Saxophone); Tien Doan (9th Grade, Flute); Tiffany Kendrick (10th Grade, Tenor Saxophone); Kayleigh Moreland (12th Grade, Flute); John Morgan (10th Grade, Tenor Saxophone); Michelle Moser (12th Grade, Alto Saxophone); Guillermo Pass (10th Grade, Alto Saxophone); Jhovany Perez (10th Grade, Flute); Landon Ryden (11th Grade, Cornet/Trumpet); Katherine Stoeckl (11th Grade, Flute); and Jake Weems (11th Grade, Percussion).

The Texas Music Educators Association is an association of over 12,000 music teachers whose goals are to support music education in Texas, provide professional growth opportunities for educators, foster public support for music in schools and offer quality musical experiences for students.
