Some Texas High Band Students Awarded

Several Texas High Band students were among 2,300 students in the state to be honored as a Texas Music Scholar.

Student honorees were selected for exhibiting outstanding qualities in scholastic merit, musicianship and citizenship in their school and community during the 2016-17 school year.

Selected students were:  Matt Allen (9^th Grade, Percussion); Anna Cannon (12^th Grade, Bb Clarinet); Krysten Collins (12^th Grade, French Horn); Craig Crawford (10^th Grade, Alto Saxophone); Tien Doan (9^th Grade, Flute); Tiffany Kendrick (10^th Grade, Tenor Saxophone); Kayleigh Moreland (12^th Grade, Flute); John Morgan (10^th Grade, Tenor Saxophone); Michelle Moser (12^th Grade, Alto Saxophone); Guillermo Pass (10^th Grade, Alto Saxophone); Jhovany Perez (10^th Grade, Flute); Landon Ryden (11^th Grade, Cornet/Trumpet); Katherine Stoeckl (11^th Grade, Flute); and Jake Weems (11^th Grade, Percussion).

The Texas Music Educators Association is an association of over 12,000 music teachers whose goals are to support music education in Texas, provide professional growth opportunities for educators, foster public support for music in schools and offer quality musical experiences for students.
