Step Back in Time for a Vintage Old Christmas in Arkansas Town
One of the most beautiful historic towns in Arkansas is getting ready for its annual Christmas and Candlelight Tour on December 8-9 2023 in Washington State Park.
Christmas and Candlelight
This vintage Victorian-style village has the feel of an old-time Christmas as the small community transforms the entire town into a turn-of-the-century that you would typically see on a vintage postcard or in a Norman Rockwall Christmas painting. This will mark the 37th annual Christmas and Candlelight Tour is the birthplace of the famous Bowie knife that was used at the Battle of the Alamo in Texas.
Big Tree
Old Washington was not only the Confederate state capital of Arkansas from 1863 to 1865 but it is also known for being the home of the oldest Magnolia tree in the state, planted in 1839. It's truly something to see up close on just how massive this tree really is!
As visitors stroll along the narrow streets thousands of candlelit luminaries cast a glow on this charming town with historical homes, buildings, and churches. Each dwelling has been tastefully decorated to reflect the beauty of the holiday season in a period setting where Christmas time had a more nostalgic feel of a simpler time in America. You can even take a horse-drawn surrey ride to learn more about this historical village.
Christmas music will feel the air throughout the streets of town beginning at 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. along with the luminaries. Plan on spending the day as the Christmas tours begin at 1 p.m. The centerpiece at Washington State Park is the old 1874 Courthouse a perfect place to gather and take a picture with family and friends.
If you get hungry make sure you stop in at Williams Tavern for a delicious holiday meal from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
If there ever was a town in Arkansas that makes time stand still and makes you feel as though you took a step back in time this place is it.
