‘La La Land’ Duo Join ‘Flash’ and ‘Supergirl’ Musical With Original Song
The Supergirl-Flash musical crossover “Duet” may not bring us a full soundtrack of original tunes, but what few new songs we get are quickly populating their own “City of Stars.” Not only is Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star Rachel Bloom contributing a number, but so too are composing team Pasek and Paul, lyricists behind La La Land.
The CW confirms that the Golden Globe-winning Benj Pasek and Justin Paul will contribute a number for Grant Gustin’s Flash to sing, titled “Runnin’ Home to You.” The pair’s music had also previously been featured on NBC’s Smash, which starred none other than Supergirl singer Jeremy Jordan.
The two-part event will feature Glee alum Darren Criss as the Music Meister, whose menace is said to begin in the March 20 Supergirl episode, and continue in the following night’s Flash. Also lending their voices will be Jesse L. Martin, Carlos Valdes and Jeremy Jordan, along with Legends of Tomorrow stars Victor Garber and John Barrowman. Supergirl cast David Harewood and Chris Wood will also appear in non-singing roles, while you can get a good sense of the whole cast’s musical prowess here.
It’s still unclear how many original numbers to expect from Flash and Supergirl’s musical team-up, but what other tunes should we like to hear the heroes belt out?
