Texarkana’s downtown trolley is officially ready to roll, and you are invited to help celebrate.

The Texarkana Arts & Historic District Committee will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly renovated trolley on Friday, June 12, at 4:30 PM at the Downtown U.S. Post Office and Federal Courthouse located at 500 N. Stateline Ave.

A Big Community Project

The trolley bus was first purchased last July, and bringing it back to life has taken a lot of teamwork from local businesses and community partners.

The City of Texarkana, Texas Fleet Department helped maintain and service the trolley, while several local businesses worked on everything from the paint job and graphics to the sound system and interior cleaning.

Arts and Historic District Committee Manager Brooke Stone said the project has been a labor of love for the committee over the past year.

We are excited to finally welcome this newest addition to the district. We are proud to have worked alongside so many talented local businesses and partners to create something that will serve our community and visitors for years to come.

More Than Just a Trolley For Texarkana

The trolley will serve as a rolling welcome wagon for downtown Texarkana. It will be used for tours, special events, and will help visitors explore local attractions in the Arts & Historic District.

And here is a plan with perfect timing. The celebration will roll right into the evening’s Main Street Texarkana Downtown Live event. Organizers of the ceremony are encouraging everyone to come out for the ribbon-cutting and be one of the first to ride on this restored trolley. While you are downtown, be sure to enjoy a fun night supporting downtown restaurants, shops, music, and local art.
