DNA Testing Confirms Identity of Human Remains Found in Texarkana
The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department has confirmed that human remains discovered last week in Texarkana belong to Jonathan Bohrer, a Louisiana man who had been missing since early May.
According to authorities, officers were notified on June 11 of human remains located near Delaware and Ray Streets in Texarkana, Arkansas. The remains were sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for processing and identification.

On June 18, DNA testing confirmed the remains were those of Jonathan Bohrer, who was reported missing in Bossier Parish, Louisiana, on May 6. Bohrer’s truck was located on East Street in Texarkana on May 12, sparking an extensive search effort for Bohrer and Johnny Hamilton, who has been missing since January. The search involved law enforcement, volunteers, and family members who never gave up hope of finding answers.
A Difficult Answer for a Family Searching for Hope
While the confirmation brings an end to weeks of uncertainty, it is not the outcome any of us, especially those who knew and loved Bohrer, were hoping for.
In a statement, the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department expressed its sincere condolences to Bohrer’s family and friends, noting that they hope the identification will provide some measure of closure and begin the healing process for those affected by the loss.
Investigation of Jonathan Bohrer's Death Continues
Authorities are still awaiting findings from the Arkansas State Crime Lab Medical Examiner’s Office that could help determine Bohrer’s cause of death.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information related to Bohrer’s death is encouraged to contact the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at 903-798-3154.
As investigators continue seeking answers, many across the Texarkana area are keeping the Bohrer family in their thoughts during this difficult time.
