Showing some Texarkana city pride, the Finance Department at the City of Texarkana, Texas, has done it again. Done what you ask? They have won a National Award for the 10th year in a row.

Congratulations are in order again this year as the City of Texarkana, Texas, Finance Department has once again received the Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.

OK, it's not a Nobel Peace Prize or Vince Lombardi Trophy, but when you win awards for being good at what you do, then you, or in this case, they, deserve recognition for it.

The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award recognizes the city’s commitment to meeting nationally recognized standards for effective budget presentation.

According to the release, Texarkana’s budget serves as a:

  • Policy document
  • Financial plan
  • Operations guide
  • Communications tool

Chief Financial Officer Kristin Peeples highlighted the department’s dedication to transparency and efficiency.

“Receiving this award year after year demonstrates our continued focus on efficiency and transparency,” Peeples said. “We continually strive to reimagine our budgeting process so that it not only meets the national standards but also serves as a catalyst for our community’s growth.”

To earn this recognition, the city’s budget had to meet all fourteen essential criteria set by the GFOA and achieve a “proficient” rating in four key categories.

Congratulations again on another year of excellence.

New Automated McDonalds in Ft Worth, Texas Gallery:

The fact is, this McDonalds is not "fully automated", they have a smaller staff working in the kitchen filling the orders, but the counter-person, all-to-often found with a bad attitude, has been eliminated in this dining concept. This new McDonalds is much smaller and has no seating for indoor dining. This is a take-out-only concept with all staff concentrating on getting the orders right. Will it work? We'll see.
