What does that old 5th Dimension song say, "This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius"... I looked it up and according to Google AI, it is. Does it mean anything? Maybe, to some, but without getting overly meta-astro-physical-logical on you (I made that up), this is a great time to go outside and witness some amazing happenings in the night sky. Pluto may be in the house of Aquarius, whatever that means, all I know is seven of our solar system planets are lining up to be seen in the same section of the Arkansas and Texas sky for the next few nights. Five of which can be seen with the naked eye. For me, that is very cool indeed.

To describe myself as an amateur astronomer would be the understatement of the century, but I do like sitting under the stars on a cool night and just imagining what is out there. Without the haze of city lights it's even better, you can download a star mapping app from the Google Play Store, and as for you "iPhone people," check your app store.

What You Can See:

All of our solar system planets will be visible to the naked eye, including Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, and Mercury. To see Uranus and Neptune you will need a pair of binoculars or a telescope.

Where To Look:

  • South: Mercury, Venus, Saturn, and Uranus.
  • South-Southeast: Mars and Jupiter.
  • Not far above the horizon.

Start looking just after sunset over the next few nights and fingers crossed, we should have great viewing weather. Friday is supposed to be the last night to view this phenomenon.

Enjoy it while you can, according to the video below from CBS19 on YouTube, this event won't happen again until 2040.
