Texarkana Police Arrest Woman in Car Theft, Still Looking For Man Involved
Texarkana Texas Police have arrested a woman for breaking into cars and are still looking for the man that was with her.
The Texarkana Texas Police stated on their Facebook page that early Thursday morning January 19 at around 2:30 AM they received a 911 call about a man and woman that were at an apartment complex located on Summerhill. The caller said the couple was breaking into cars in the parking lot of the complex.
Just as Officer Brady Cooper was almost there, the dispatcher relayed information over the radio that the suspects were now leaving in a small silver car. He met a silver Chevrolet Malibu on Summerhill Road about a block away from the apartments and turned around to stop it. He immediately noticed that the woman driving the car was extremely nervous as they spoke and she was alone in the car. She gave him several different explanations about what she was doing at that hour - including that she was looking for an apartment to move into.
As Officer Brady was questioning her, officers back at the apartment complex found two vehicles were broken into. It was reported that in one of the vehicles, there was a black purse miss and in the other car a PGISD Chromebook was missing.
Officer Brady could actually see those items in the car he had just stopped. Officer Brady knowing now that the woman was involved in breaking into the vehicles went ahead and arrested the woman. Marshayla Whitlock who is 23 years old and from Rockford, Illinois was arrested with two counts of Burglary of a Vehicle.
The stolen purse and Chromebook were returned to the victims.
Whitlock was booked into the Bi-State Jail with a bond set at $20,000.
But that's not the end of the story because TTPD is still looking for the man that was involved in helping Whitlock.
