The Texarkana Texas Police Department is actively investigating the armed robbery of a bank on this Wednesday morning.

According to the police department, the Wells Fargo Bank in the 1700 block of New Boston Road was targeted around 9:15 this morning.

Witnesses told authorities that the suspect waved a handgun around and demanded that the tellers give him money from the cash drawers. The suspect fled with an undetermined amount of money, and was seen fleeing the scene on a bicycle.

Police say a witness followed the individual to a house in the 100 block of Melton Street, where he abandoned the bicycle and was seen getting into the passenger side of a charcoal gray Toyota 4Runner. The vehicle was last seen headed west on New Boston Road.

The suspect is described by authorities as a black male around 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing around 160 pounds, and was dressed in all black clothing at the time of the holdup.
