Texarkana Police Need Help in Sunday Shooting to Find Suspect
Texarkana Police are investigating a shooting that took place a little before 6 PM on Sunday, August 27 near the intersection of West 16th Street and Peach Street.
A 17-year-old girl was shot in both arms during a gunfight between two males. She was transported to Wadley Regional Medical Center and luckily her injuries were not life-threatening. One of the two males was a 16 year old and he was arrested for Deadly Conduct later that night.
Police are still looking for the other male allegedly involved in the shooting. A Warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon has been issued for 17-year-old Ge'Keyvun Minneweather.
According to the TTPD Facebook page,
Detective Aaron Wafford has learned that Minneweather showed up on Peach Street to fight with the male juvenile. There was apparently some kind conflict between the two because of an incident that happened last week. The two got into an argument and, after one of them spit on the other one, they both produced handguns and started shooting at each other.
The young woman was standing next to the juvenile and this is when she was shot. It is now believed that it was Minneweather's bullets that hit her.
Both Minneweather and the juvenile fled the scene before police arrived.
If you know where Minneweather is, please call us at (903) 798-3116 or Texarkana Area Crime Stoppers at 903-793-STOP.
