Texarkana ISD Board Begins Superintendent Search

Texarkana Independent School District has officially begun the search for its next Superintendent of Schools following action by the TISD Board of Trustees at its August 25 meeting.

The Board has selected Arrow Educational Services, Inc. to assist with the superintendent search. Jim Dunlap will oversee the process.

Community and Staff Input Will Be Part of the Search

TISD says input from district staff and the community will be an important part of the search as trustees work to identify the district’s next leader.

The goal is to find a superintendent who can build on the district’s current momentum while continuing to expand opportunities and improve achievement for TISD students.

As the search progresses, the district plans to provide additional information on the timeline, opportunities for staff and community members to provide input, and other important milestones.

Interim Superintendent to Lead District During Search

Interim Superintendent Sherri Penix will continue leading TISD while the search is underway.

Penix will provide stability and continuity as the 2026 - 2027 school year gets underway and the Board works through the selection process.

TISD says additional updates will be shared as the superintendent search progresses.
