Texarkana Texas To Receive Budget Award For 8th Year In A Row

Congratulations to the City of Texarkana, Texas as they announced today, Thursday, April 27, 2023, that it has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) based on the City’s 2022-2023 annual budget. This is the eighth year in a row the city has earned this award.

The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award represents a significant achievement by the city staff. GFOA applicants must be rated as proficient in four categories to receive the award. The budget must:

Serve as a policy document
A financial plan
An operations guide
A communications device

Each of these categories has mandatory criteria that must be demonstrated at the proficient level.

“We are proud to be presented with this award once again,” said City Manager David Orr. “Our Chief Financial Officer Kristin Peeples and her team have continued to overcome the obstacles created by the 2020 cyberattack and we are grateful for their dedication to maintaining the strong accounting principles reflected in this award,” said Orr.

The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) is a major professional association servicing needs of more than 19,000 appointed and elected local, state, and provincial-level government officials and other finance practitioners. It provides top-quality publications, training programs, services, and products designed to enhance the skills of those responsible for government finance policy and management. The association is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois with offices in Washington, D.C.

The fact is, this McDonalds is not "fully automated", they have a smaller staff working in the kitchen filling the orders, but the counter-person, all-to-often found with a bad attitude, has been eliminated in this dining concept. This new McDonalds is much smaller and has no seating for indoor dining. This is a take-out-only concept with all staff concentrating on getting the orders right. Will it work? We'll see.
