The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for north central Bowie County in Texarkana, Texas until 4:30 p.m.

At 3:40 p.m., meteorologists detected a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter-size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph.

This storm was located 13 miles north of Arkinda, just 11 miles west of Horatio and it is moving south at 15 mph.

This warning is also in effect for southeastern McCurtain County in southwest Oklahoma, western Little River County and west central Sevier County in southwest Arkansas.

Other locations in the warning include Goodwater, Shinewell, America, Moon, Bokhoma, Almont, Tom and Wallace.

If you live in one of these areas, take cover immediately and stay away from windows in case of large hail and damaging winds.

Continuous cloud to ground lightning is also occurring in this storm. Remember, if you are close enough to hear thunder, you are close enough to get struck with lightning.
