Texas Now Holds Tasty Guinness World Record with Ice Cream Treat
When it comes to ice cream, you can never have too much. To break this record, the Lone Star State needed every scoop they could get.
Is there anything more perfect on this earth than ice cream? Velvety. Creamy. The perfect way to cool down on a hot summer day. Not to mention it comes in assorted flavors to satisfy every palate. Don't let me get to close to that gallon because I will inhale it. I love ice cream.
Recently, thousands of volunteers in Texas came together in the name of ice cream and world records.
Last weekend there was a festival in College Station called the Spirit of Texas. Guinness World Records adjudicator Christina Conlon was on site to witness history in the making. These people were able to serve up the "Longest Ice Cream Dessert" coming in at 1,386.62 meters (just 200 meters short of a mile). Volunteers scooped ice cream into cardboard boats that were connected, end over end, before topping it classic sundae toppings.
Here are all the ingredients that went into this record breaker...
500 gallons of H-E-B Texan Tackle Crackle ice cream
300 gallons of chocolate and strawberry syrup
2,000 cans of whipped cream
25 pounds of sprinkles
20,000 cherries
This isn't the first record for the festival. Last year, they broke the "Largest Serving of Chili con Carne" record with 2,177.24 kilograms. This community certainly knows how to throw a party!
