What’s Your Favorite Flavor? Texarkana Loves it Ice Cream
What's that old saying, "I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream." The fact of the matter is, I just love ice cream especially during the summer months.
I guess my love for ice cream started when I was a young boy, my father worked at an ice cream plant where they made the ice cream and delivered it all over the area. I remember my father taking me to work on occasion and letting me stir the huge vat of ice cream he was mixing. His job title was mix master which sounds more like a DJ...uh. He was the one responsible for making all the different flavors of ice cream, but of course back then they didn't have as many flavors as they do now. My favorite was butter pecan and they made an almond bar that was out of this world. In fact, I have never found one that tasted like the one they made at Southern Belle Creameries.
But the best part of having a father that worked at an ice cream plant was all the free ice cream he would bring home on a regular basis. I mean we would have ice cream for just about every special occasion there was a birthday, anniversary, or just because. And all my longtime friends that I grew up with, still remember when my father would bring ice cream as a treat to the elementary school I was attending. So now every time I go to the store and walked down the ice cream aisle, memories of my father come flooding back to me. I just have to smile a little and say, thanks dad!
So it's only fitting that when I posed the question on my Facebook page, What is your favorite flavor and brand of ice cream? You responded. It seems like most everyone pretty much likes Blue Bell ice cream.
Finally, a little something special for celebrating the Fourth of July.
