Texas-side Police Arrest Texarkana Man on Multiple Charges
What would you call being arrested and charged with Theft of a Firearm, Evading Arrest, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and Possession of Marijuana all in one night? Unlucky? Texarkana Texas Police call it a good night.
Texarkana Texas Police arrested 29-year-old Stephen Collins on several charges this past weekend. TTPD reports that Officers Dewey Fleming and Christopher Flores witnessed a number of vehicles in a parking lot at N. Stateline Avenue and College Drive around 4 AM Sunday morning. As the officers drove into the parking lot they recognized Collins inside one of the vehicles. Knowing that Collins had several warrants for his arrest the officers approached the car Collins jumped out and ran. Collins managed to get to W. 32nd and Walnut before Officer Fleming caught him, brought him down and handcuffed him. During the search, the Officer found a Glock 19, previously reported stolen in Wake Village, laying beside Collins along with a plastic baggie containing marijuana in one of his pockets.
The suspect was initially transported to the hospital due to some apparent medical issues, after being cleared medically, he was booked into the Bi-State Jail.
Texarkana Texas Police are reporting that in addition to the four misdemeanor warrants Collins had, he was also charged with Theft of a Firearm, Evading Arrest, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and Possession of Marijuana. His total bond was set at $41,631.
