The 19-year-old Redwater, Texas native went from a small town to the bright lights of LA where she appeared last night on the popular NBC music show, "The Voice." The talented singer walked out on stage looking like a star dressed in a hot pink fringed jacket with weathered stone-washed blue jean bell bottoms.  She was poised, confident, cool, and in control when she belted out the 1970s Freddy Fender classic, "Before The Next Teardrop Falls" in front of the audience and "The Voice" coaches John Legend, Adam Levine, Michael Buble, and Kelsea Ballerini.

Her parents waited patiently behind the scenes to watch and see if she would get a big red chair turn in the Blind Auditions to get to the next level of the competition. It didn't take long before Michael and Kelsea turned their chairs and were impressed by not only her singing but the unique yodel she had in her vocal style. Kelsea compared her sound to Wynonna Judd and Trisha Yearwood giving her high praise by saying, "Your voice is undeniably country," I was your age when all this started for me." "I know how to navigate, I know this genre."

What Kelsea Ballerini Said About Hailey's Performance

Amused by her yodel, Kelsea asked her if she knew the song, "Blue" by Leann Rimes, which she did, and was asked to sing a few bars, she nailed it. Kelsea said, "I get you, I can't wait to get to know your voice." I think at that moment, Michael Buble knew it was over for him and he was right, Hailey Wright chose Kelsea Ballerini to be her coach.

Hailey also shared with viewers that she recently learned about her Choctaw roots, her grandmother was a full-blooded Choctaw Indian, so it was an honor to represent the Choctaw nation on "The Voice." Meanwhile, while talking about her stepdad in the backstory, she became emotional and he did too, saying, "I am so proud of her."

More About Hailey Wright

A life-changing softball injury at 16 began Hailey’s musical journey when she picked up a guitar in a pawn shop and taught herself how to play during her recovery process. Once she got it down and felt comfortable enough to perform she posted a video on social media and became a fan favorite locally. She then started performing at any place that would allow her to sing at local bars, clubs, restaurants, and various hot spots around the Texarkana area. Along her musical journey, she honors her musical talent and Choctaw heritage by wearing her hair long as a representation of her Indian culture and learning to speak the native Chahta language.
